Your head office is already in Zurich

We are also the point of contact for resident companies

Pfingstweidstrasse, Zürich

There are approximately 70,200 firms with almost 800,000 employees in the Canton of Zurich. More than 99% of these companies are small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with less than 250 employees.

The Division of Business and Economic Development is not only the point of contact for companies wishing to settle in Zurich; it is also the first port of call for resident firms.

The range of our support includes:

  • Work permits
  • Permits in general
  • Projects that require the assistance of several different offices (e.g., change of registered company seat or business expansion).

A one-stop-shop-service is available for complex projects. The aim of this service is to bring together all project parties and to determine measures that will ensure a swift achievement of the goals set.

The regional economic development organisations are an important link for resident companies and an ideal contact for initial information.

We provide the impulse

As well as responding to company inquiries, we focus and provide impetus on topics of significance for the development of the local economy (e.g., technology transfer and succession).

To the extent possible, we also offer our services as a door-opener, e.g. in connection with accessing foreign markets. These services are provided in collaboration with our network partners in Switzerland and abroad.

Our agenda and the information we issue have the same impulse-giving aim in mind. Find out more from the navigation bar "Tour de Zurich".

We implement the administrative relief legislation

A further priority of the Division of Business and Economic Development is to implement the administrative relief legislation. For more information please see the navigation bar "Regulatory Affairs". We also welcome suggestions to improve communication with the cantonal administration.
