Responsibilities

The issuance of quota-free permits for doctoral students, postdocs and academic guests lies in the responsibility of Migration Office of the Canton of Zurich. Therefore, in such cases, the application can be handed in directly at the Migration Office. If the following criteria are not met, the application must be processed by the Work Permits Unit.

Conditions

  • Doctoral students must have a Masters diploma
  • Enrolment at the local university
  • The employment level must not exceed 60 %

Application documents

  • Application for an entry permit
  • Employment contract
  • Document “Beiblatt Qualifikationsstellen” resp. data sheet with indication of doctoral supervisor
  • CV
  • Copies of diplomas
  • Copy of passport
